Training & Technical Assistance
Lack of experience or technical expertise can be as big a barrier as lack of funding. You may have little or no experience with construction or renovation projects. Your expertise is education, not real estate development. The Fund provides free technical assistance to its borrowers and grantees and will help connect you to experienced architects, engineers and project managers to:
- Assess and select a site
- Define a project scope
- Assemble a development team
- Draft capital and operating budgets
- Finance the project
- Manage construction
Training on Learning Environments:
Going Green: Promoting Sustainable Practices in the Classroom
We offer training on improving energy efficiency and indoor air quality while creating healthier learning environments. It is focused on operations, including purchasing decisions, rather than “green construction” although we have those resources as well.
Room to Grow: Improving Infant-Toddler Spaces
This training covers the physical and developmental needs of very young children and offers great examples of high quality indoor and outdoor space in family child care and center-based settings. Materials are available in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

Setting the Stage for Quality: How to Improve Your Family Child Care Environment
This "train-the-trainer" program was developed for family child care systems and CCR&R provider specialists to use with family child care providers to improve home-based learning environments. After completing the one-day training, trainers have access to all the materials, activities, and power point presentations to use in training providers. The materials are available in English, Spanish, and Chinese.
